EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Buying healthy food can seem like a daunting task, what with the cost of fresh produce increasing since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. But one can still cook up a health meal on a budget with a little help on smart purchasing.
The East Brunswick Public Library is conducting a nutrition workshop titled “Cooking Matters at the Store.” The workshop is part of the library’s “Just for the Health of It!” initiative.
In this workshop, SNAP-Ed nutrition educators will help participants learn how to purchase nutritious food through different sections of the grocery store, while on a budget.
The aim of the workshop is to help community members learn about the importance of consuming healthier food options, while being physically active.
The workshop will be conducted virtually on Sep. 8, from 2 p.m.-3 p.m. Space is limited to 25 participants only.
The program is sponsored by Community Food Bank of New Jersey and the public library, to promote community health and wellness.
